Colne ASC Masters swimmer Karen Driver proved to be the Queen of the pool after winning the 400m, 800m and 1500m freestyle events at the ASA National Masters and Senior Age Group Championships.

Driver, competing in the 40 to 44 years age group, proved to be too strong for her rivals as she powered to triple gold success at the Ponds Forge International Sports Centre in Sheffield. Driver missed out on a fourth medal when she finished in fifth place in the shorter 200m freestyle event.

She was joined at the event by team-mates Philip Croxall and Stephen Smith who also were swimming in the 40 to 44 years age group.

Croxall finished fourth in the 100m breaststroke, 6th in the 200m breaststroke, eighth in the 200m IM and 50m Breaststroke, 12th in the 100m IM and 16th in the 50m Freestyle.

Smith struggled in the sprint freestyle events of 50m and 100m due twisting his ankle a few weeks earlier. Despite this he still managed a creditable seventh in the 50m and eighth in the 100m.
