Mee wants to restore fortress Turf Moor

BEN Mee says Burnley will look to restore the Turf Moor fortress, after securing back-to-back home wins and clean sheets.
The Clarets boasted a proud home record in their promotion season of 2008/09, while the famous old ground has historically been renowned as a tough venue for visiting teams.
In recent times, however, it has not held the same fear factor for the opposition. Indeed, Burnley enjoyed a better away record last season.
But after securing a third win from their last four games, against early promotion favo-urites Wolves, Mee believes they can once more be a force to be reckoned with at home, and will set out to prove that when they entertain Leeds tomorrow night.
“We think we’re on a decent run and we want to keep it going and make this place a fortress and hopefully get a few more clean sheets as well while we’re at it,” said the defender, who contr-ibuted to an impressive shut-out against Blackpool in the previous home game.
“It was a good performance against Blackpool,” he added.
“On Saturday we defended really well, so (tomorrow) hopefully we can get another one.”
Manager Sean Dyche only had three days on the training ground with the squad before his first game on Saturday, after being named Eddie Howe’s successor last Tuesday, but Mee feels the players are showing they are taking on board the new boss’ message.
“It’s been really good. He’s come in, set down a marker and got us all going in training,” said the former Manchester City youngster.
“It’s been high intensity and we’re working really hard. That’s what he wants us to be.
“We’ve still been playing the football but it’s just that little bit of intensity and short, sharp stuff that he’s brought into us.
“The gaffer’s brought his ideas in and we put them into practice and got the clean sheet.”
He added: “There’s a difference.
“Obviously there is with all managers. He’s a bit more vocal I guess in the way he does it.
“We’ll get to know him as time goes on but it’s been a good week and a nice way to finish it off.”
