Stonyhurst hosts hockey tournament

NETBALL and hockey teams from schools from across the north west headed for Stonyhurst College.

More than 30 teams from 10 schools took part in the annual competition at the Ribble Valley school battling it out for honours in under 13s and under 15s netball and under 14s and under 16s hockey.

The U13s netball was won by an excellent Kings Chester side who were unbeaten all day and displayed some fantastic teamwork.

The U15s netball tournament was a lot closer and ended up being decided on goal difference.

And it was with Cheadle Hulme who were declared the winners with Stonyhurst finishing in fourth.

The U14s hockey tournament was won by an Arnold KEQM side, who beat Kirkham 2-0 in the final while the host school were third.

Stonyhurst’s best chance of glory came in the under 16s hockey where they took on Arnold KEQM in the final. But after the match ended goalless, Arnold went on to win 2-0.
