Blackburn pony club members show how it's done
5:43pm Tuesday 30th October 2012 in Sport
Emma Riley, Ricki Riley, Elle Gething and Matthew Barton
Blackburn and District Branch of the Pony Club has enjoyed its fair share of success.
The club did well at Pony Club National Championships where Jess Core on September Sunrise was open champion at the North West Area competition in Cumbria.
She then went to complete three clear rounds at the National Championships at Cholmondeley Castle, Cheshire.
The club’s dressage team of Emma Riley (with Buckaroo), Ricki Riley (with The White Breeze), Elle Gething (with Truffles) and Matthew Barton (with Celtic Spirit) were also Champions at their Area Novice competition in Cheshire and went on to be placed eighth at the National Novice Championships – with Emma Riley third individually.
She also reached the finals in Warwickshire of another Pony Club dressage series.
A group of youngsters and their ponies attended aweek-long residential camp at Aintree racecours.
During the week some of the younger members took, and passed, their National Pony Club tests with Sophie Murphy, Ellie Todd, James Heys, Emily Parkinson, Emily Berry and Molly Burnett all successful at ‘D’ level, and Will Parkinson and Jade Fielden ‘D+’ level.
Since the camp, there have also been passes for Matthew Barton and Elle Gething at ‘C’ level and for Emily Latham-Taylor at ‘B’ level.
