FOR St Peters Primary School it was nothing put pure enjoyment but for the Green Haworth players, nothing but agony.

Welcome to the high drama of the penalty shoot-out.

There was little to separate the sides throughout the day in the annual Fern Gore Cup – the Saints topping the mini and beating Green Haworth by a goal – and that was the case again in the final.

That was until the thrills and spills of the shoot-out.

The final itself was a nervy affair with neither side managing to make a breakthrough in a 0-0 stalemate.

The shoot-out which, unfortunately for Green Haworth, turned out to be a one-sided affair as host school St Peter’s went on to win 4-1. It was the second year the competition was held and having been established by St Peter’s last year.

As well as St Peter’s and Green Haworth, St Oswalds and St Paul’s also took part who competed against each other in a mini league.

St Peter’s topped the table with five points with two wins and a draw. They beat Green Haworth 2-1, then St Paul’s 5-0 then drew 1-1 with St Oswalds.

Green Haworth beat both St Oswald’s and St Paul’s, both by the same 2-1 scoreline to finish second with four points.
