BURNLEY'S 100 per cent record under caretaker boss Terry Pashley came to a disappointing end at Cardiff City as two goals in either half consigned the Clarets to their heaviest defeat of the season.
The Bluebirds had not dropped a point at home in their previous six home games, setting a new club record, and looked destined to continue that impressive run when Joe Mason put them in front after just three minutes.
Cardiff countered, and after Craig Noone saw his effort bounce off the left post, Mason was quick to react and turned in the rebound.
Charlie Austin went close to scoring for a record-breaking ninth game in a row, but his dipping volley was kept out by goalkeeper David Marshall.
Cardiff got forward quickly and almost added a second but Mason was denied by the post.
Goalkeeper Lee Grant will be disappointed with the second after failing to get a firm hand to Noone's shot, and the ball bounced over the line before the keeper could hook it clear.
Sam Vokes came on to replace the ineffective Junior Stanislas at the start of the second half and offer support to Austin up front.
Although Cardiff continued to dominate, Burnley held out until the last eight minutes.
Matthew Connolly put the result beyond doubt with a far post header from Peter Whittingham's corner.
Substitute Aron Gunnarsson wrapped it up three minutes later, sidefooting past Grant after Rudy Gestede headed down Andrew Taylor's diagonal ball into the box.

I feel sorry for the travelling fans who paid hard earned cash to see this sorry display,luckily I live in Cardiff and could get home soon after the game,It was like Burnley
