Rugby: Despair for Dale after another defeat

DESPITE their troubles this season, Rossendale cannot be accused of playing dour rugby.

But for the third time this season, the Marl Pits side scored more than 30 points in a game and still ended up the losing team.

Just as they had done against Percy Park and Billingham, Dale demonstrated the best and worse of their game – lethal in attack, poor in defence.

Rossendale scored four tries but unfortunately shipped five as the Bees came out on top in a thriller.

In a ding-dong battle, Dale had trailed 13-5 but stormed back to lead 22-13 thanks to tries from Danny Harrison, Jamie Albinson and Steve Nutt who also kicked two conversions and a penalty.

But the home side took control, scoring three tries, with a Nutt penalty the only reply, to lead 38-25. Danny Collins score a fourth try but a late penalty sealed Dale’s fate.
