Blackburn’s Joshua Walsh finished in eighth place in the 400m freestyle final at the British Championships at Ponds Forge, Sheffield.
The 17-year-old QEGS student, who swims for Blackburn Centurions and Gallica, qualified seventh fastest for the final which was won by Beijing Olympic silver medal winner David Davies.
Fellow Centurion, Jordan Theaker, 15, from Great Harwood, failed to qualify but the Norden High School pupil swam a personal best time in the heats.
