Those who know me, well, it's not really a well kept secret, will know. I do quite enjoy a natter!

I call this blog "Is it something that you said"? Why? Because I like to base it upon something someone said to me or that I over hear. Am I odd? I don't think so? Am I?

MORE TOP STORIES:

This week started in Egerton with coffee & a sandwich with Barry & Steve, old work pals of some 20, 30 years or more. Work's important. It brings you an income. But I loved my work with & for young people & gained great comradeship & fraternity from many of my colleagues.

Later that day I was in the College for my regular briefing & had time with Thomas Moore, the Principal, the Clerk Elaine & another great Blackburn-ophile & my pal, Phil Watson. Before we get down to business, & there's plenty of it, there's always a bit of banter, like a warm up!

Then a trip to the dentist, mainly for the hygienist. The young lady has grappled with my teeth for 8 or so years. But she has a conversational advantage over me! How can we respond with all that gadgetry installed? We, she! "discussed" people's differing abilities to speak foreign languages!

The week included trips for a blood test & to pick up some new reading glasses, so that meant nurses & opticians to engage in a chin wag. After that my wife & I sat in the shopping centre & nattered over a coffee.

Why is there such an extensive, bewildering range of coffee choices these days? And really we didn't talk about much, really it was our favourite pastime...people watching. We can do it for hours, have done it all over the world!

Even in the lift we met up with "Jacob", his siblings, Mum & Grandma. Mum said everyone knows Jacob's name. He was about 4, I guess. We had a bit of banter about pushing the lift buttons then he "shot" me with his ray gun!

There will be people, living nearer to you than you might expect, who would love a natter. They rarely see anyone, hardly ever speak much. Try & have a word with someone new or different every day. It'll cheer you both up?

We don't know how lucky we are!
