HAVING read recent negative comments re the NHS, I would like to add my comments. On 1 June, my husband appeared to be suffering a stroke. I immediately dialled 111 where the operative asked a series of relevant questions and immediately referred me to the Primary Trust GP out of hours service. The GP on duty made an assessment and asked us to go to A & E (this was 10pm on a Friday). Once in A & E we were taken to triage and fast – tracked through. A stroke consultant was brought in via the Telestroke network and my husband was admitted to Ward B2 where he received excellent care. On discharge we have had ongoing support from the Community Stroke team who are coming in each day.
