I THINK the time has come to add a new couple to the list of great TV double acts of recent times.

Yes, to join the firmament of Ant and Dec, the Doctor and Rose, Sam Tyler and Gene Hunt could I add the names of Kirstie and Phil?

The co-hosts of Location, Location, Location on the Property Channel, sorry Channel Four, have always had a good rapport but this latest series has seen them turn things up a notch.

Now it's almost incidental as to whether the confused couple they are supposed to be helping actually decide on their dream home and that's made the programme better.

It's certainly funnier as Kirstie Allsopp, part jolly hockey sticks, part internet pin-up girl teases Phil mercilessly as they hunt for the perfect house.

Poor old Phil If it wasn't bad enough having to say pwoperty' 20 times every programme he has to put up with Kirstie on his case all the time.

You would have thought that a property programme would be the last place you'd find some end of the pier humour. But oh, no. If our Kirstie can find a good double entendre she'll use it.

This week while exploring a house in Norwich she suggested that she take the would-be male buyer upstairs to show him around while Phil could look after the his partner downstairs.

The evil glint in her eye would have made Frankie Howerd proud.

I think Channel Four has realised that it has overplayed the property card and is turning the show into entertainment.

Certainly if Richard and Judy ever decide to pack it in, there's a ready-made replacement
