Two budding violinists are hoping to follow in the footsteps of their older sister and win a national music competition.
Amos Sharp, 11, and his nine-year-old sister Aviva are preparing to take part in Emunah Young Musician of the Year contest at the Royal Academy of Music on Sunday February 3.
The musical siblings from Golders Green are determined to take home this year’s trophy after their 13-year-old sister Anoushka Sharp was crowned Emunah Young Musician of the Year 2012 for her performance playing the cello.
All three children are members of the National Children’s Orchestra of Great Britain's Youth Orchestra and regularly perform as a trio.
Aviva, a North London Collegiate School pupil, has achieved Grade Five violin, while Amos, who attends Highgate School, has achieved Grade Seven violin.
If successful in February, Amos and Aviva will go through to the finals in March, at which Anoushka’s successor will be announced.
The competition also helps raise cash for Emunah charity, which supports 10,000 children who come from difficult backgrounds through its network of residential homes, counselling services, high schools and day care centres in Israel.
Money will be raised through the sale of tickets and the winner of the competition will also receive a £500 prize for their school.
