The £50K-plus it costs keeping people like murderer Donald Neilson alive in prison (‘Killer didn’t want to live’, LT, August 14) could be spent giving children a better start in life so that they don’t end up in a life of crime.
Strange how many are content to see their hard-earned taxpayers’ money spent on keeping scum like that alive for decades but begrudge their taxes supporting law-abiding people who are in the unfortunate position of just not having a job.
