Letter: Parking that risks lives

I must reply on behalf of the downtrodden section of the public, namely the pedestrian, about parking on pavements.

Does your letter writer (LT, July 9) ever stop to think about the danger parking on pavements put these people under?

The main road where my house is situated is a potential death trap from 7.30am till late at night because of this illegal practice.

The number of accidents and near misses I have witnessed lately is unbelievable.

There are schoolchildren running in the road around parked cars, old people with failing eyesight and doddery legs feeling their way round and sometimes walking into parked cars, and young mothers with prams having to cross when they don’t want to.

When will people realise that the road is for cars and the pavement is for pedestrians?
