Letter: Taxes will always be part of life

RE ‘pasty tax U-turn relief for pie-makers’ (LT, May 30), it is a fact of life that politicians spend their waking hours trying their best to think up schemes to extract as much money out us poor peasants as they can.

This state of affairs has gone on since time began and will continue to do so for years to come. Death and taxes are the only certainties in life.

Just pay up and smile – life is too short to bother about such things.

If you have the money you pay, if you don’t have the money you can’t pay. Simples!

I do a bit of writing and some time ago did an article on taxes. As A Darener says the poiticians spend their time thinking up new ones. Down the centuries they have taxed beards, windows, clocks, and would you believe SALT. They had almost run out of ideas when along came climate change/global warming. My how they must have rubbed their hands when they realised what opportunities this opened up for them.

Does any one know the correct amount of in-direct and direct taxes that one pays?.
I bet you dont.
It has been officialy noted that we in the UK actualy pay in direct and in-direct taxes some 66% of our wages, by the the common workers of this country and it is rising every year.

So is it little wonder that we are being asked to pay more and more for the obveious failings of previous and present Goverments.

We are also on top of that 66% paying another tax for being in the EU some 51 Billion per day.
Again that comes out of the common peoples pocket.

Is there a way out pf this mess.
