Letter: Looking forward to MPs' pay cut

Owing to the imminent attack on wages of public sector workers in deprived areas, I take it that all Tory and LibDem MPs will be in line for a wage cut of the same percentage as the public sector workers they represent?

After all, what is an MP but a glorified public sector worker?

I might add that respect must be earned – it does not come with the title.

But never mind, ay, we’re in it together.

R Ormerod, Lower Darwen.

MPs are re-elected on their merit... a failed MP who has failed his electorate gets an allowance.
Peter Atkinson, Conservative MP for Hexham stood down at the last election and got a lump sum of around £93,000.

Just done some research.... Gordon Brown will get £60,000pa for life for the couple of years he was PM.
As do ALL failed PMs.

In the Banking Sector -
After wrecking Merrill Lynch's fortunes in the sub-prime mortgage market, its boss Stan O'Neal resigned, but picked up $160m on his way out.

Yes, Mr Ormerod, the world has gone mad !
