Night bus students hit by cuts

THE late-night bus between Haslingden and Rochdale is to be subsidised by Lancashire County Council for six months (LT, April 23) If Lancashire have taken over this subsidy, why has the route to and from Accrington not been restored? You cannot leave Haslingden after 8.30pm and you cannot return from Accrington from 8.50pm.

College students have no bus now after evening classes that finish at 9pm.

I do believe it was a conservative government who deregulated the bus services thus leading to privatisation and the only buses running are those which make a profit.
Local Authorities are caught with areas with no bus services which the operatiors require a subsidy to operate or there will be no bus at all, and a Local Authority wit not enought oney to subsidise the bus services needed by residents.

And Labour did nothing to re regulate bus services while in power Brian.Both party's are pro car and anti public transport.
