ON Mariyah Mahmood’s column (LT Asian Image, April 21), I am a Christian but I fail to see why anyone should object to the wearing of the hijab.
It is an attractive form of head-dress unlike the facial veil which I find most unfriendly and dangerous.
No-one ever discriminated against the old- fashioned headscarf which was worn by Lancashire lasses and is still worn by no less a personage than our Queen.
On the subject of religious items, though, I rigorously defend my right to wear a small cross as a symbol of my faith and it should not be banned in the workplace or anywhere.
