  • "It's not the police, it's magistrates, judges and the Home Secretary and Justice Minister that are the problem. Watching some police programme last night I was stunned to see a drunk driver crash at 130mph on a dual carriageway and not prosected because there was a 'lack of evidence'! It absolutely beggared belief that someone with so little regard for other people's lives was able to walk free from court."

LETTER: Problems start with the parents

A recent survey confirms what many of us believe – poor parenting has a link with anti-social behaviour.

We have been affected by anti-social behaviour for a number of years, and lack of support from the police is making matters worse.

Prosecutions don’t take place because the culprits will be lumbered with a criminal record and effectively blighted for the future.

What a load of rubbish.

Police are just delaying the timebomb. The culprits who get away with crime go on to be the ‘big hero’ and influence younger culprits.

These younger children watch and admire their elders, and the problems spread.

Lancashire Police, as far as I can see, are tickling with the fringes of the problem.

How long is it since there was a prosecution in your area?

Roger Ball, Lancashire.
