It is a poor show when the brightest and best of the young people who are seeking apprenticeships are looking to a firm that is associated with the manufacturer of fighter bombers, armed drones and nuclear powered submarines designed to carry nuclear weapons. Yes, BAE.
Good luck to the young people pictured in the article on page two of Wednesday’s Lancashire Telegraph.
Who can blame them for seeking the best opportunities open to them for a career and a good standard of living - but why is it that BAE is offering the best apprenticeships?
It’s because this is the company that our government chooses to back over and above other companies whose products have the potential to build a safe, green economy for the benefit of future generations.
Ordinary people have to get out of the mindset of thinking that their views don’t matter and they can’t change anything. They can and they must.
