RE, HOSPITAL LET MY DAD DOWN: East Lancs trust sorry after error in pensioner’s care Dr Mr Singleton, as Coroner, when are you going to start treating ELHCT as a business and then start tackling these unfortunate deaths in the same way that you would were it a factory?

I am utterly fed up of hearing of their failings and reading the same trite phrases being issued in apologetic statements by a spokesperson, about how they will improve care quality procedures but find that, within a few months, another case comes to light with similar failings.

Now the Trust is feeling umbrage at someone, so disgusted with the care of a relative, that they have involved the media. It’s as if the trust would seek to bury their mistakes along with the deceased individual and carry on as normal!

What other remedy do people have to find answers, if the trust itself isn’t capable of being honest, open and forthcoming in both admitting errors and making improvements?

Were this any other business, in the accepted sense of the term, the management board would be in the dock, facing serious charges. Whereas they can almost wilfully carry on in a status quo of error after error. Thank God, that we have a Press that is prepared to expose these shortcomings and not be silenced any self interest group with it’s own agenda for not wanting negative publicity.
