Letter: Obesity caused by ignorance (From Lancashire Telegraph)

Your letter boils down to ignorance and laziness and therefore you are going to get fat. Ignorance because you equate what is a widespread and difficult to understand medical phenomenon (that can be linked to a multitude of causes and factors both genetic and environmental) with an argument that is a blatantly naive and simplistic generalisation, in that it implies that all people who suffer from obesity are ignorant and lazy, which simply is not true. Your letter is lazy because you fail to expand on your arguments - all you do is promulgate a crass, knee-jerk and ill-thought generalisation and to use your own logic you must be at risk of becoming obese, because anyone who writes a letter like yours can only be ignorant and lazy, which are the two factors that are most likely to cause obesity - you said it not me.

There is a photograph doing the rounds on facebook, It shows health guru Gillian Mckeith and Nigella lawson.when compared it shows the health fascists have got it badly wrong. Nigella looks great. Gillian looks half starved.
