Letter: Town has too many £1 shops
4:54pm Tuesday 7th August 2012 in Opinion
I see Burnley is to get another £1 store when national chain ‘Poundworld’ opens its new store in the town centre. It saddens me when I have to go into the town centre and see either boarded-up shops or cheap pound stores. The place is littered with them. How many more do we need?
The place is crying out for some proper quality shops and department stores. The new Oval development never happened because again the really top quality homes wouldn’t take a chance and come to Burnley.
This latest development says it all. Burnley as a town centre has had it! In fact, it had it years ago.
M Hibbert, Burnley
