  • "That's not a charity!
the sea cadets is a organisation that provides activity and entertainment for kids so the parents should pay for it, its just like someone asking someone else to pay for there kids membership for a golf club and help out with the cost of the equipment.
If that's your hobby you pay for it."

Letter: Charity shop needs donations

Blackburn and Darwen Sea Cadets have use of the Charity Shop in Blackburn (opposite Town Hall) from Sunday 19th August for one week.

They urgently require donations to sell. Clean clothing, household linen, curtains ,books, ornaments, crockery, records, CDs, DVDs, and small items of furniture etc will be most gratefully received from 10.30am to 2.00pm on Sunday 19th August. (no electrical items please) Please help if you can because we are a registered charity and, unlike the other cadet forces, we receive no funding from the government. Every penny helps to fund our transport and other costs incurred as our dedicated volunteers strive to provide valuable training for young people which is fun but follows the long traditions of the Royal Navy.

EM Eastham, Hon secretary, Blackburn SCC Management Committee.
