ACCORDING to a government survey we are not very satisfied with our lot in some parts of East Lancashire.
Blackburn and Darwen came third from bottom for satisfaction in a survey commissioned by David Cameron to measure the nation’s sense of wellbeing.
The results make little sense to those of us who live and work around here.
Yes, times are tough and the overly-squeezed economy isn’t helping us one bit.
But we know we ARE cheerful: Neighbourliness is still alive and well in many parts of our area, our sense of humour is second to none and our generosity is recognised across the country.
When you look at the survey more closely and the small number of people who actually responded you realise that the science is wafer thin.
We don’t need a bunch of bureaucrats to tell us how we feel.
David Cameron is right to be interested in the morale of the nation. But if his findings are as wide of the mark as this then he is not going to discover much.
