Letter: It’s a tradition in this country

Putting things on hills has been a British tradition since pre-history – some Iron Age white horses remain carved into hillsides.

There’s a photo in the archives of Darwen Library showing a demonstration in Darwen Town Centre against the proposal to build Darwen Tower – because it would spoil the natural beauty of the moor!

Yeah Michael but fings can only get worse, and were bad enough when Darwen Tower was built in Victorian times, laudanum and all that. Dash it, there's a story about sex with animals in local press, though it's a horse rather than a dog.
