Letter: Bus companies have no choice

Low floor buses have to be wider and lower to accommodate wheelchairs, pushchairs etc. which of course means they are too big for routes which have traditionally been operated by converted van type minibuses.

Of course, I get the irony that making bus services accessible for one group of passengers means a group of existing passengers can't use the bus.

But before you have a go at the bus companies bear in mind the law states ALL local bus services must be operated with low floor buses by 2017 so unfortunately there will be more.
