Who would you like to meet, and what would you ask them?

I never ever watch a Question Time, Paxman thing, the Politics Show. Marr is sometimes on as we read our Sunday paper (Observer).

People seem to like to engage me in “political” natters - I’m never really interested. Does a former local amateur/semi-pro footballer only ever talk/think about football? Quite like “A View from the Boundary” on Test Match Special.

But as I realised when chatting with the former chief of police and local newspaper editor, so many jobs are about interviewing. Paramedics need the right info, as do doctors, teachers. Parents, shop assistants, most of us, use that range of skills.

As an aspirant or, by now, failed hack I love finding out about people and what makes them tick. It’s probably why my golf never improved much. Why, spending four hours with painter/decorators, car salesmen, engineers, JCB drivers, plumbers, solicitors, would you worry about a little white ball, when there’s so much life experience to mine?

I “edit” our club’s members’ mag and there’s a “Meets” section.

The last question is about who would you like to play a round of golf with and why? The answers have ranged from golfers, film stars to Nelson Mandela.

Do you like politics? Why? Do you have a interest/pursuit, sporting or otherwise?

So, who would you like to meet/interview? Living or otherwise. Why? Where? What questions would you ask?

I would like to meet Enoch Powell, to wholly endorse his "rivers of blood" speech, and also Ted Heath, to persuade him not to take us into the EU.

A bit like GutterPress I would like to expose right wing dogma and seek out Oswald Mosley of the Black Shirted British Union of Fascists operating in the 1930s against Jews and others. Its probably because of ferment stirred up by him that people like Anne Frank never secured political asylum from Nazi Germany..

A Twitterpal asked me who I would like to interview.
I think it would be an open access consultation with Paul Simon to ask him how he takes ideas & experiences, makes them into poems, adds a composed tune to make a song...
But I wouldn't remember each song...so he'd have to be on a stand by basis...

Would love to ask the present New Labour gang why they still love Tony Blair and because they were his children when will they leave to enable a true Labour Party to return?
