Torchbearer's photo plea

ON June 23 it was my privilege to carry the Olympic torch from Blackburn town centre via Exchange Street to Barbara Castle Way.

The reception I received from the crowd was absolutely fantastic, and the joy and pleasure on the faces of the assembled crowds could only be described as overwhelming and inspiring.

I am not a resident of Blackburn but the welcome was second to none. The experience of the day and the “moment” will be very hard if not impossible to match again in my lifetime.

During my route I stopped many times with great pleasure to have photographs and videos taken with spectators of all ages, and I would like through your newspaper to appeal to anyone who could assist me in my great desire to compile a record of the event as a keepsake.

If anyone would kindly send me any photos or videos taken at the time I would be most grateful. Please email to torchbearer 230612@hotmail.co.uk.

It was a very heart-warming experience to see the people of Blackburn joined as one to witness the journey of the flame and my small part in it. I was indeed humbled.

I will be forever grateful for anything sent.

Ash Patel, Torchbearer 048.

why could we not find a resident to carry the flag? The entire thing has been a disgrace especially when will.i.am got to have a go.

I can't imagine the yanks doing that for us....
