Letter: Park not a patch on what it was

The reopening of the pavilion in Nelson’s Victoria Park is welcome news, but what about Marsden Park?

In a lovely part of the borough, it used to boast a very popular open-air swimming pool with fountain, cafe, public toilets, restaurant, aviary, special garden for the blind and conservatory full of exotic plants with a ‘cared for’ feel.

I know a lot has been spent on questionable boggy areas but, although quite pleasant, it is not a patch on what it was, sorry to say.

Shortage of funds is no doubt the problem, although plenty of money has been found for Pendle’s many white elephants. I suppose that is ‘progress’.

What Pavilion? I know the Bandstand was refurbished a few years ago, but I have no knowledge about the Pavilion. Info please.
