Letter: Carbon tax is unnecessary

Carbon tax is not necessary unless you believe in man-made global warming – a silly theory that is falling further apart by the day (‘Haslingden student takes fuel campaign to Commons’, LT, June 27).

If carbon tax was scrapped, we could all have lower bills. That is a lot better than just giving a few people a discount.

As for poverty, that word has been distorted to fit any of the latest trendy agendas.

Real poverty means the inability to feed and clothe yourself, or access clean water. The new definition of western poverty means to sacrifice a luxury to pay a bill.

I would certainly congratulate her if she campaigned for the right thing. Theft by taxes is not the right thing.

This shows how much the kid's are brainwashed by the system.
It is clear that global warming is happening like it has before and will again, however we are being emotionaly blackmailed to pay up for our children's future. Proper debate against this great green con has been stiffled by the government and the media. As for poverty being distorted, to fit any trendy trends. I am afraid the truth is much worse than that. The visible poverty on the streets in this country is deeply worrying. I point the finger of blame for the increased poverty directly at the Con dem coalition. We will reap what they sow. You only have to look at what is breaking in the news, about the Banks and their criminal greed. The tory philosophy is pure evil and too many people have been taken in by them in the past. The promise of easy money is a dangerous lure. Anyone claiming to be a conservative in this country needs to have a long hard look at what this really means.
