Letter: It's a grim price for loyalty

Have those in uniform not done the country proud over the periods we have been involved in conflict? Since the end of the Second World War, there has been only one year when we have not lost a member on active service.

Many of those involved in the current conflict have been killed or rendered limbless.

The Government is now rattling its sabre against the Syrians; if things escalate, we will be involved there as well.

Despite this, the armed forces are being cut to the bare bones, and the Territorials are being deployed in order to fill the gaps. It’s a case of these people loving their country, but does their country love them?

What makes things daft is that we only pick on the smaller country's.

If you look back at the USA, didn't they break the law and declare independence from Great Britain. Doesn't this make it an Illegal country?? I'm sure it was taken illegally?

Let's start by taking the USA back under British rule before expanding our empire to Syria.

They know what they sign up for! If you don't want to fight, don't join the Army.
