Letter: Police earn their pension

Police officers pay very high deductions every month from their salaries to fund their pensions.

This is because their length of service has to be shorter than other public sector workers due to the physical and stress aspects of the job.

Why not have a go at all public sector workers as well because they all have a good pension?

These people have all worked hard and paid their tax and national insurance.

No-one disputes the fact that they have a good pension, but stop moaning. Why not join the force – then you too can benefit. It is only 30-odd years of abuse, stress and unsocial hours.

When you have been safely tucked up in bed at night, they have been driving round making sure you are!

What about all the extra council tax we pay that covers the shortfall for all those who don’t or won’t pay theirs!
