Letter: Opportunity is the real answer

I wonder how long it will take social workers to screw this up. I know some social workers are very good and make the best of a poor deal.

I read Linda’s story and I have to say it could apply to thousands of others: lack of education, poorly-paid work leading to a spiral of decline. She has been lucky so far.

I can understand the annoyance of others who are working their guts out just to make ends meet, with hardly a holiday or many luxuries, when other people seem to be getting everything.

But look closely and the truth is much different in many cases.

The big question is, would you really want to swap places with them? The real answer is proper opportunity, decent paying work, affordable housing and good education.

I wonder where I have heard this before?
