This has been suggested by the head of the National Police Chiefs Council. She said forces need to focus on other crimes. She also said that instead of reacting to traditional crimes we have to focus on threat and harm.
So they will still gather evidence, in her words not mine, but how is this possible if they do not visit the scene? I guess the burglar will be over the moon as there is less risk of him being caught and surely in the long run this will provoke more break-ins as the perpetrator will know there is less chance of him being caught. She mentions protecting the public. Surely visiting a crime scene and catching the culprit is a large part of that.
