THE fight goes on for John and Penny Clough.
Five years on from their daughter’s horrific murder, the couple continue their dignified battle for justice for her and others who find themselves tortured at the hands of stalkers.
Jane Clough’s murder was nothing short of frenzied and brutal.
Her parents, family and friends will never get over their loss but what Mr and Mrs Clough have managed to achieve whilst dealing with their own grief has been courageous and inspiring.
Not only has their Justice for Jane campaign yielded a change to bail legislation, and the introduction of a criminal offence with a five-year maximum prison term, they are making huge progress in their quest for a ‘stalkers’ register’.
The couple want a system, similar to the sex offenders’ register, which would be open to qualified professionals and interested parties.
They want to see improved conviction rates for stalking, an offence they believe is still ‘trivialised’.
A petition has attracted 125,000 signatures and the next step is to meet with Home Secretary Theresa May.
Despite their own pain, Jane’s parents are doing everything they can to help others and create a legacy.
