I hate being late for things or people!

To me, it suggests "my time (& therefore probably I am) is more important than yours"!

Utter arrogance, in my humble opinion. I try never to be late, if there's a danger I'm going to be dismissively & tardily unpunctual, I try & get a message to my appointment to apologise & advise them.

I always try & find a few things about people, things that make them special. "Did you know x makes model steam engines as a hobby?" "Yeah, his daughter's a fantastic folk singer, made a few recordings, performed in some top venues!" "They've just taken a bit of a risk as he's now retraining for a career change."

I've found that bothering to know a little about other folk, makes them feel a bit better about themselves & that you're interested & care a little about them.

I try & send folk a little something, some flowers, a card, an e mail or text if they've been under the weather, faced up to a challenge, had a bit of success, done something a bit out the ordinary.

I ain't no saint, but if only we'd all be a little nicer to one another, valued them, even made them feel good. I find people like it. But, do you know, I like it too!

Where people work, people not doing their best, taking too long, not listening to what's required/agreed, drives me mad. I'd always try to discuss, assess, agree how long a task would take, I'd rather things were right than rushed, but months to do something that should take weeks or getting something wrong so as it needs to be done again!? AAAaaargh!

Do they not listen, not care, hope you'll give them little, less or nothing to do?

I've been reflecting recently when will I/should I stop expecting the best from of people or organisations around me? Should I drop my standards, my expectations?

It seems like a slippery slope to me, but getting irked by other's slovenliness only seems to vex me, not will them on to improve!
