HOW refreshing to hear of someone with loads of money doing good instead of living the high life.

Robert Smith, a British fashion tycoon, has shunned a champagne lifestyle and invested £10million into rescuing stray dogs in Romania.

He has set up a charity called Foundation for the Protection of Community Dogs which is an area the size of 112 football pitches.

It houses approximately 700 dogs who are allowed to roam freely on the farmland compound instead of roaming the streets foraging for food.

To date he has saved around 120,000 dogs and re-homed about 20,000, many of these in the UK.

Robert first began paying for dogs to be neutered after becoming sickened by the sight of dog corpses lying by the side of roads and on waste ground and seeing stray dogs left to starve in cramped compounds.

The millionaire also helps run education projects for kids in Turkey and Romania.

A lot more wealthy people could take a leaf out of Robert’s book and put some of their fortune to better use instead of frittering it away.
