RE: Police prevent wrong-way drive on M65 (LT, May 12).
Knowing the roundabout at junction six, it is not an easy turn to get on the wrong carriageway and is certainly not signposted.
I am pleased this lady came to no harm and a potential accident was avoided, however your report says “she was informed of her mistake” and helped on her way. Hopefully the DVLA were informed.
The whole question of how long one can continue to keep a driving licence needs to be renewed.
As we now live longer and roads get busier there needs to be a better system than just saying ‘I can still drive competently’, which is all one needs to do to keep one’s licence.
