No surprise then that Hollern has been elected MP for Blackburn with a 2 per cent drop in turn out.

Historically, the town has a tradition for electing people that have a proven record of putting their own self interests before those they promised to represent.

In the 1800s a Tory mill owner was elected in four successive elections despite never saying one single word in Parliament!

Let’s not forget Straw who, covered in the blood of thousands of innocent civilians, murdered in illegal wars fought in the interests of big business, was also continuously reelected.

In Hollern, the town has elected the woman who has hocked off the town’s social and welfare services to private business.

The entire council housing stock was given to a private business. Thousands of council workers have been laid off or had their jobs privatised. Old folks homes and libraries have been shut down. Litter is knee deep at the sides of the pot holed roads.

Under the poker player slogan ‘it’s your call’ Hollern directed the residents of the town to sweep it themselves while sacking council cleaners and bin men.

When last in government Labour introduced Employment & Support Allowance and other cuts in safety-net benefits for the most vulnerable and poorest. Labour, locally and national, are on the side of big business.

What more needs to be said? If you want to put people’s needs before profit then we have to break with Labour!
