TEENS and their parents know the youngsters are in for a tough time over the next few months, with exam season just around the corner.

But one East Lancashire college has come up with a novel way to encourage its prospective students to do well at their GCSEs.

Nelson & Colne College has sent out more than 800 chocolate bars to teenagers hoping to start its A level courses in September.

The initiative uses Kit Kats and the brand’s “Take a break” slogan, alongside a study tips postcard, to encourage youngsters to get organised when it comes to revision.

The college hopes the scheme will see school pupils create a revision planner which includes plenty of studying as well as periods of relaxation.

The main aim is to ensure they do not to leave everything to the last minute and find themselves in a panic.

The college said the response to the campaign has been great and a lot of people have enjoyed the novelty of having a chocolate bar sent to them.

Certainly for the majority of the youngsters, their GCSEs will be the most stressful thing they have had to contend with.

If a Kit Kat makes them think about the best way to prepare for the experience, it has to be a good thing.
