We have lived close to there since early 1978. When we first moved, I was the only resident in a row of 6 houses to have a car.

Now a lot of the homes around have at least one car if not more, so parking is difficult. Ivinson Road is quite narrow so if this proposed new road is built the grass verges on either side would have to go; this will mean more green grass disappearing.

Also there are a large number of young families living on Ivinson Road, and with this development, where could their children safely play? Ivinson Road is narrow with nowhere to go at either end, making an extension over Bailey’s Field a road from nowhere, and then there would have to be a major engineering at the other end. This could result in houses being demolished.

It has also been mentioned that there has been no public consultation by our local council. There are two possible reasons for this. One is that the Council wants to sneak this through before we realise what has happened, and the other is that they are testing public reaction? If either case they will find that this proposed road is not wanted. If this is the first step to having housing on Bailey’s Field, they are certainly proposing a development that they know the public do not want.
