Once again, another decorated Iraq war hero has been let down after having been forced to sell his gallantry medal, along with eight other medals, in order to make ends meet.

James Harkess left the army 10 months ago after serving his country for 22 years. He suffers from a wide range of illnesses making it impossible for him to work.

Therefore he is totally dependent on his Army pension. This follows Bruce Toge and Alan Dennis also being forced to sell their medals due to hardship.

On the other hand, we have benefit scroungers Josie Cunningham, who had a £5,000 NHS boob job, and jobless father-of-26 Peter Rolfe who lives on £46,000 a year benefits and was recently awarded a £300,000 house after moaning his other one was too small.

These brave and fearless soldiers have been proud to serve their country and what do they get in return? Nothing except to be thrown on the scrapheap.
