I would like to comment on the ‘artistic talents’ of some of those people who enjoy the countryside, those people such as hikers, cyclists, birdwatchers, anglers, motorists and other countryside visitors. in particular, I would mention people who enjoy these hobbies and who are active in ‘modern abstract art’.

Their efforts in trying to enhance the countryside scene through their ‘artistic talents’ must give them a lot of satisfaction.

Their appreciation of the added colour to our countryside scenes is by the siting of colourful empty tin cans, the glint of bottles or the lining of the hedgerows and trees with used plastic bags or part-used food containers from fast food outlets.

They must enjoy the sight of a dog faeces bag hanging in a tree with the dying sun behind it. So spectacular.

When visiting one particular town in the locality, one can understand why these people do visit the countryside to show their efforts.

It’s because the towns are full to the brim with their exhibited products. The motorway exit roads are overflowing with ‘domestic colour’.

Britain is fast becoming the landfill area of the world.

I am aware that a small number of local authorities do make an effort to try to remove the offending items. Their actions cost money, public money.

I and others are paying for the efforts of rural ‘artists’. I can’t afford it.

Generally, visitors to the countryside are very welcome but the abusers should keep away.

I am aware of the adage ‘sarcasm is the lowest form of wit’, but this letter is aimed, in particular, at the lowest form of humanity.
