The situation at the eastern end of the M65 can at times be extremely congested and difficultt and pretty soon it is going to get much, much, much worse.
They are building an additional retail park on the North Valley Spine at the old Glen Mill site and a garden centre adjacent to the end of the motorway.
I am absolutely staggered, although hardly surprised, that Lancashire County Council as highway authority for the strategic road network did not raise serious objections to these planning applications.
Frankly, one wonders just what sort of development in and around Colne would actually cause the LCC to awaken from their slumber and lodge formal objection in relation to traffic.
Travelling through Colne can be very time-consuming, even during off-peak periods.
The length of the traffic queuing on Vivary Way is highly variable depending on direction of travel and time of day. The situation is worse eastbound and it is vexing when one has been in the nearside lane for a long time to experience other motorists driving in the offside lane and then cutting in at the top.
