RE Hundreds pay respects at funeral of ‘God Squad’ member who died in collision near Blackburn (Lancashire Telegraph, February 21).

Costly fly-pasts continue while former RAF head, Air Chief Marshal Sir Michael Graydon, claims more aircraft are needed.

The £7 billion-a-year Royal Air Force has some 200 combat jets, including 130 Typhoons.

Clearly the RAF has more Typhoons than necessary, more than the UK can afford, yet Graydon wants more.

The RAF has enough Typhoon jets for funerals, air shows and other events, but not enough for defence.

Why is there a seemingly limitless budget for displays and fly-pasts, ever ready to put on a show? It is time RAF display aircraft and air marshals were grounded.
