I AM writing about the silt issue of Sunnyhurst Wood’s pond.
I’ve read about this and its costs over the last few years. My memory of over 40 years ago is of my children and friends watching two men who regularly cleared the pond with two spades and a dumper truck.
I am sure there are a lot of Darreners who can recall this job being done regularly.
These two men cared for our woods on a daily basis, doing whatever needed to be done.
The woods looked a lot nicer then than they do today. They would cringe at what has been done.
If the silt was there, then it’s obvious that it’s a recurring thing that needs attending to on a regular basis.
After all, you know where the water comes from and where it goes, so maintenance is important.
