RE, Burnley row blows up over travellers’ sites plight
October 3 2014 - Gordon Birtwistle in this paper: “After the meeting, Coun Birtwistle said: “I have an appointment with the planning minister in a couple of weeks and I’ll see what he has to say.
“But at the end of the day I’ve already spoken to ministers about this and they’ve said it’s a council decision. “ So this was over 2 months ago so: a) What happened after the meeting in mid October?
b) Was Gordon Birtwistle wrong or did he mislead the Council about whether sites were needed? Why has he not updated since that meeting?
c) What has the Council done since mid October?
I feel sorry for the residents - the ones who pay their Council tax. You have an MP who can’t seem to get any clarity on any position and a Council that seems to want to leave everything to the above MP and in the meantime hang the residents out to dry.
Shame on all of them. It would be completely different if one of these proposed sites were in their home area.
