RE, Petition calls for action to make Blackburn with Darwen a nicer place to live I have only been twice to Blackburn this year therefore what is taking place can wait until it‘s all finished before I can comment.

I suppose those living within walking distance of the town centre will notice the changes but because Darwen is nearer for me to do my small item shopping that is where I go. Much easier to park as well.

I use the internet to do my large item shopping because there’s more choice and items can be returned if not satisfied. This is what most people do these days anyway!

But what annoyed me about Maureen Bateson and the council’s ‘housekeeping’ is that they seem to have forgotten about what’s around Blackburn’s town centre. Very humble are the dwelling places and little difference to what was there during the nineteen sixties.

No ‘dusting’ has taken place and all I hear about Blackburn these days is what’s taking place in the town centre or what’s either been pulled down, fallen down or burned down around it.

Has there been anything new built around the town centre since ‘The Four Pennies‘ played a tune there?
