Along with other ex-servicemen, I object to Will Straw using our annual act of remembering fallen heroes as a platform to gain political brownie points off the backs of a very local and meaningful service.

I have made a point of leaving this until Remembrance Sunday is finished, because I did not wish Mr Straw to feel that I was capitalising on sentimental feelings.

I have no political axe to grind. My only concern is that certain politicians are willing to stoop to any lengths to gain votes.
